Mugs' Review - Future Mountain/ Molly Rose/ Sailors Grave - Chance or Circumstance 2019

Brown sour beer aged in oak barrels with dates & wattleseed.

Mahogany bodied beer, sort of murky, beige foam sits atop. Aroma is somewhat rich yet vinous; dark toffee and brown sugar like maltiness, old oak barrel, coffee grinds, vinous red berries and plums, very earthy.

Full bodied, reasonably thick and substantial at first, becoming savoury, woody, slight acetic bite that holds on, dry minerally earthiness that lingers. Flavour starts with an almost cola like sweetness, supported by hints of cocoa and coffee becoming vinous with plums and Blackberry, slightly woody and minerally towards the finish with a touch of balsamic kick.

Deeply complex yet drinks very well; a fair bit going on but the balance is great and it's not overly intense/sour like some Oud Brune- styled beers can be.

375ml bottle, 6.6% ABV  bb 25/12/22
